Soooo…. it’s nearing the first day of autumn (Sept. 23rd) and I’m ridiculously excited! This is one of my favorite seasons, partly because the temperature outside is starting to cool down and it’s no longer blistering hot outside. More than anything though I love the warm cozy feeling I get whenever I catch a whiff of pumpkin spice!
After spending a few hours on Pinterest pinning, I decided to end summer early in my house and start breaking out the over-sized sweaters, the large coffee mugs, the candles and the crockpot (to make my house smell amaziiiing).
Here’s some things I did to bring the feeling of autumn home:
#1 – The Smell
Found a great recipe to make my home smell like fall! I would post up a picture of what mine looks like but it looks disgusting since I didn’t want to waste food, just so it would smell nice at home, so I ended up eating the fruit and dumping the cut out cores and peels into a crockpot instead. I cranked the crockpot to high to cook for a few hours then turned it off and left it to soak overnight and this morning I turned it back onto high. Initially there was only a very faint smell but now it smells amazing in the house! Luckily for me, it’s the smell that counts on this one and not the look of it!
#2 – The Ambiance

Found this great idea and I wanted to do something similar but I completely forgot to pick up popcorn from the store when I went. Instead I had to settle with what I had at home, so mine turned out more like this:
Instead of popcorn, I used gravel I found in some random vase in the house. I picked up some twigs outside and used an orange tea light candle (So it has the color). It still has the feeling of fall but instead of it looking cute, it now looks outdoors-y~ which isn’t that bad, I guess I didn’t completely fail.
#3 – The Fashion
I found this over-sized sweater last year on eBay and it has served me well. I’m pretty petite and the sweater fits me like a bag but it’s comfy and reasonably priced ($16.50). Every time I slip into it I feel relaxed and at home. Because it’s so big I don’t wear the sweater out much but it’s a great for at home lounge wear to keep you warm and comfy, not to mention it reminds me of the season.
#3 – The Accessories
Now that the weather has finally started cooling down I can enjoy my hot drinks again and that means I need a cute mug that reminds me of the season. I found this guy at King Soopers when I was suppose to be buying the popcorn the other day. The mug was on sale and under $6 and super cute!
